Job Description & How to Apply Below

Engineering Buyer

We're seeking a highly organized Engineering Buyer to support our R&D Engineering teams in rapidly developing robotics for Wonder's next-generation restaurants. You'll work directly alongside our engineering team to execute purchases, vet vendors, and keep complex builds on schedule. You won't just execute purchase orders; you'll manage the vendor lifecycle administratively, untangle accounting and PO platform bottlenecks, and own the procurement process end-to-end across multiple concurrent projects.

We want someone who is relentlessly organized, an effective communicator, and has experience procuring parts for hardware automation products.

The Impact You Will Make

Procurement Execution & Tracking

  • Execute and manage PO transactions for engineering components across sensors, actuators, passive components, testing tools, and custom-fabricated parts.
  • Track open orders, monitor lead times, and aggressively expedite critical shipments to ensure purchasing timelines align with build milestones.
  • Maintain an organized, up-to-date tracker of open orders with current status, tracking information, and priority for regular team review.
  • Manage receiving, notification and storage of components as they arrive

Vendor Coordination

  • Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for engineering vendors. Set up introductory calls, coordinate onsite demos, and ensure the right engineering stakeholders are in the room.
  • Onboard new vendors into the company's purchasing systems
  • Own ongoing vendor account management, resolving any discrepancies with shipments, damaged goods, invoicing and returns (RMAs).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with legal on NDAs and vendor contracts as needed.
  • Partner closely with Wonder's internal procurement and accounting teams to resolve issues with the PO platform, invoice matching, or approvals. We're actively building and refining our procurement tooling, so comfort operating in an environment where processes are still being worked out is essential.

Documentation & Communication

  • Collect and organize vendor documentation, datasheets, and product specs for team reference so engineers can access technical information quickly.

What You Bring to the Table

Education & Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, specifically supporting hardware, manufacturing, or automation products.
  • Preferred: BS in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field (an engineering degree is not required, but technical familiarity is a preferred).

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with standard procurement/spend management platforms.
  • Ability to read part numbers, interpret basic technical terminology on datasheets, and communicate effectively with technical vendors

Professional Skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and keep meticulous records.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams (specifically closing the gap between Engineering and Finance/Accounting).
  • Relentless follow-through and a strong ability to synthesize information for distribution within a team.
  • Competent at spreadsheets and building/using digital organization tools

This role requires a minimum of 4 days a week in the office, with additional days as needed based on project demands.

This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA
