Operations Manager, Retail & Store Manager
Job Description
Professional level sales position capable of supporting advanced functions on the commercial side of the business. The role is responsible for profitable growth of the commercial business through customer retention and expansion. Partner with the GM to manage team members and operate with expert knowledge of automotive systems and parts. Source parts from multiple channels (special order, FDO, second source, etc.)
and direct drivers to ensure timely, accurate delivery. This is a full‑time role.
- Maintain commercial customer relationships.
- Provide GAS2 selling experience to commercial customers.
- Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives.
- Offer day‑to‑day supervisory support for team members.
- Collaborate with the GM on coaching and developmental needs for team members.
- Dispatch drivers to meet delivery standards.
- Maintain commercial stocking programs.
- Build and maintain a network of second‑source suppliers.
- Maintain core bank and commercial returns.
- Maintain commercial credit accounts.
- Partner with GM to ensure proper driver coverage.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent.
- Advanced solution, project, and product quality recommendation ability.
- Advanced selling skills for commercial customers.
- Ability to multi‑task and stay organized.
- Effective communication, listening, and problem‑solving skills.
Job Skills and Success Factors
- Working knowledge of automotive systems with diagnostic ability across internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust.
- Strong written and verbal English;
Spanish is a plus. - Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Execute instructions given in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
- Perform basic math accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure).
- Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) effectively.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Understand commercial profitability concepts, including market opportunities and customer prioritization.
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
A minimum of 3 years of automotive parts experience is preferred. Proven sales ability in customer transaction fulfillment and formal or informal team leadership experience (e.g., supervising daily tasks and achieving group goals) are required.
EducationHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsASE Certification preferred, but not required.
Physical DemandsPredominantly walking or standing; requires ability to talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily indoor work; occasional exposure to weather. May touch moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock risk, explosives, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
Compensation Range21.95 USD per hour – 24.15 USD per hour.
