Overview

As the Design & Construction (GEMS) Construction Manager, you lead Amazon’s construction projects, including sortation centers, delivery stations, and auxiliary buildings. You manage new builds, retrofits, and expansions, ensuring the implementation of facility network infrastructure and maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards. The role requires 60% regional travel and the ability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates either live near or are willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office;

relocation assistance may be provided.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise the implementation and management of Amazon’s safety programs and standards across all internal and external project teams.
  • Manage and resolve project issues, maintaining independent operations within the assigned region.
  • Ensure contract labor possesses the necessary skills and competencies to deliver work to required standards.
  • Track and forecast budgets and schedules, striving for frugality and identifying factors that may hinder project hand‑over.
  • Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth execution.
  • Advise on impacts of change on time, cost, and permitting.
  • Maintain timely communication with internal and external stakeholders about all pertinent information.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation.
  • 3+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement, and labor contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project management, construction, and contract management.
  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • 4+ years of program or project management experience, or a PMP certificate.
