Overview

CPHI AMERICAS is one of the most important events within Informa's pharmaceutical portfolio. The Regional Director will lead the full operations of CPHI in the US, overseeing the Event and Commercial teams. The role is transformative, balancing immediate commercial success for 2026 with strategic growth for 2027 and beyond. The US-based leadership will also drive revenue and attendance growth across other global events through 2030, engaging with external stakeholders to align with market needs and maximize impact.

About the Role

The position represents a pivotal leadership role in evolving the event from an exhibition-first format to an experience-led, content-driven, and networking-focused platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong pharmaceutical industry knowledge, exceptional leadership, and the ability to inspire cross-functional teams to drive growth, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for CPHI AMERICAS, ensuring alignment with broader company goals and long-term objectives.
  • Lead the transformation of CPHI AMERICAS into an experience-led, content-driven, networking-focused event, prioritizing 2026 commercial success and 2027 growth.
  • Establish clear value propositions for attendees and exhibitors, ensuring measurable ROI and differentiation from competitors.
  • Drive the strategic growth of US-based revenue and attendees across other global events, with a target to quadruple these metrics by 2030.
  • Continuously assess and refine event formats to stay competitive, profitable, and aligned with market needs.

Commercial Leadership

  • Directly oversee the Event and Commercial teams in the US, ensuring alignment with event goals and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director of the Pharma Portfolio to ensure seamless integration of sales strategies and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, providing actionable insights to optimize revenue and customer satisfaction.

Market Penetration and Development

  • Build and nurture networks with key associations, government entities, and industry influencers to ensure appropriate market penetration across important and untapped verticals.
  • Develop strategies to expand the CPHI AMERICAS brand into LATAM, leveraging Miami as a strategic location to attract new audiences.
  • Collaborate with content teams to curate high-quality programming that addresses industry challenges and meets diverse market needs.
  • Design immersive networking opportunities that enhance attendee engagement and drive cross-market collaboration.
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to keep the Pharma Portfolio relevant and impactful.
  • Use customer feedback, market insights, and data to refine event strategies and maximize stakeholder value.

Operational Excellence

  • Accountable for the P&L of CPHI AMERICAS, providing finance and leadership with actionable insights on financial risks, opportunities, and forecasts.
  • Lead the annual financial planning processes, including 3-year planning, budgeting, pricing, and forecasting.
  • Manage budgets effectively to deliver value to attendees and stakeholders while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Monitor risks and opportunities and take proactive actions to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a matrixed team, fostering professional development and collaboration.
  • Guide cross-functional teams to align with portfolio growth strategy and goals.
  • Inspire and motivate teams to achieve high performance and deliver results.

Line Management Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and oversee the performance of the US-based Event and Commercial teams, ensuring clear roles and expectations.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback for growth.
  • Set objectives and KPIs for direct reports aligned with portfolio goals and regional strategy.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide training, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation with high engagement and productivity.
