Area Manager, Retail – Responsibilities- Execute against and monitor company‑established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial goals to generate measurable results.
- Daily management of retail leadership teams and operations activity in the market. Regularly visit all locations to monitor execution of key initiatives, advance engagement, and work directly with teams, as well as assist with new store openings.
- Ensure operating procedures are followed in accordance with SOPs and company policies through store audits; create corrective action plans and assign as appropriate.
- Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
- Assist in inventory control and oversee store efficiency of inventory processes.
- Be responsible and accountable for inventory levels across all assigned locations, ensuring accuracy, minimizing loss, and maintaining optimal stock.
- Work within established standards of performance and budgetary guidelines; drive sales, profitability, manage labor, and control costs.
- Partner with compliance to ensure operating procedures meet regulatory requirements and are followed at the stores; may draft and maintain SOPs.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to manage workforce needs, including developing recruiting strategies, equitable and fair compensation, policy interpretation, talent management, and compliance.
- Provide feedback on performance regularly, issuing individual development plans, coaching, disciplinary action, and recommended actions for improvement and growth.
- Set annual SMART goals in partnership with Market Leaders and cascade them through the assigned area, holding store managers accountable to their set goals.
- Provide ongoing feedback to cross‑functional partners on local and market trends, product insights, category performance, and competitive landscape to inform merchandising, marketing, and operational strategies.
- Analyze product and category performance to identify opportunities for growth, assortment adjustments, and operational improvements.
- 3+ years experience in supervisory or managerial role and 1+ year leading a multi‑site environment (cannabis preferred).
- Familiarity with business and financial principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and business acumen, proven ability to analyze sales data and create effective action plans.
- Ability to identify top talent, network, recruit, create and maintain high‑performing teams.
- Must have open flexibility to work during peak traffic times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to travel 75% of the time.
- Age 21 or over.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Government‑Issued Photo .
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office devices.
- Travel for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to remain stationary or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Self‑motivated; micro‑managing isn’t fun for anyone.
