Position Overview

Impact Manager (IM) leads and develops a team of Ameri Corps members as emerging leaders focused on strengthening schools and supporting students to improve performance. Reporting to an Impact Director, the IM implements City Year’s Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) service model and serves as a talent developer who supports Ameri Corps members through a challenging year of service.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of City Year’s Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) Tier1 supports and Tier2 interventions.
  • Oversee whole school and class service implementation, including instructional support, thematic events, and culture enhancement.
  • Establish clear, measurable objectives aligned with WSWC goals and capture best practices for community sharing.
  • Utilize data analysis from various sources to identify trends, improve interventions, and enhance ACM performance.
  • Supervise and support ACMs in executing coordinator roles and fulfilling service responsibilities.
  • Lead, manage, and coach up to two teams of Ameri Corps members to achieve service performance requirements, meet Ameri Corps practitioner standards, and support members through their individual equity journeys.
  • Lead with a strong sense of City Year culture and values, consistently using City Year culture tools; make meaning of City Year culture and foster strong personal connections to the deeper meaning of our work in schools.
  • Guide ACMs to meet service performance requirements and maximize leadership development potential.
  • Foster a culture of power and idealism using City Year leadership tools and best practices.
  • Utilize performance management tools to set expectations, identify strengths, and facilitate individual development plans.
  • Ensure ACMs are committed to student success and equipped to meet City Year standards.
  • Support the management and development of Returning Ameri Corps Members (RACMs)/Team Leaders.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with school administration and personnel to ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for corps members to deliver academic, attendance and behavior supports for students.
  • Build and cultivate strong partnerships with school leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate understanding of school priorities and collaboratively implement solutions aligned with City Year goals.
  • Maintain a strong presence in schools, utilizing student data strategically to gain support for initiatives.
  • Coach ACMs on developing productive partnerships with teachers and other school staff.
  • Cultivate strategic community relationships and leverage resources to enhance service performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Urban Studies, Youth Work, or other related field preferred but experience in management, non‑profits, community service and/or youth work, or education is acceptable.
  • Proven relationships and experience working with/in Boston Public Schools or as a contracted provider with Boston Public Schools is a plus.
  • Experience with and the ability to work with principals, assistant principals, and teachers to meet shared goals which includes having difficult conversations around partnership accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and lead diverse teams of young adults which includes experience coaching young people and working with diverse populations to achieve goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including active listening skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, time and project management skills; ability to prioritize projects and tasks, assess and deploy resources.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, pursue self‑development and self‑directed learning.
  • Ability to work as an independent leader and as a team member in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (i.e. MS Office) and experience using databases to document service work.
  • City Year/Ameri Corps/Peace Corps experience is a plus.
Benefits
  • Full‑time employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with experience. Salary range: $50,000–$60,000.
