Salary Range: EXM Entry Level Pay $/yr. to Pay Range Maximum $/yr.
Salary Notes: This position is designated as Management. Starting Salary will be based on a review of qualifications and experience.
Department Mission Statement: The Court Education Department (Court Ed) supports the administration of justice through the collaborative design and delivery of education, training, and professional development programs, and the development of practical resources for judges, appointed and elected officials, and court employees throughout the Judicial Branch.
Notes:
- This position currently offers a hybrid schedule of no more than two days remote per week (subject to change).

Position Summary: The Director of Court Ed leads a team of sixteen professionals dedicated to the development and delivery of quality learning and education opportunities for the workforce. Court Ed staff partners with the judicial branch in a variety of capacities to meet the education, training, and professional development needs of the Judiciary. Its primary location is Boston.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Court Administrator and Chief Justice of the Trial Court with a high degree of independent judgment in performing duties.
Supervisory Responsibility: Responsible for management and supervision of all department staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Directs and manages all business operations of the Court Education Department, including all personnel matters and assignments, fiscal and procurement processes, budget, department policies and procedures, and development, production, and delivery of a core court curriculum addressing education, training, and professional development needs of the workforce -- from onboarding to retirement.
- Leads the hiring, promotion, and career development efforts for Court Ed staff.
- Identifies annual and recurring training priorities, in consultation with Trial Court leadership and the Court Ed team, and develops a training plan to address those priorities, and the operational needs of the Trial Court.
- Oversees the development, implementation and reporting on strategic planning goals, initiatives and strategies for the Trial Court and Court Ed.
- Continually updates and maintains the department’s Operations Manual, including internal department personnel policies and practices, and project/program management workflows and expectations.
- Oversees the development, implementation, tracking and compliance reporting of online/on-demand, virtual and in-person training, including both mandatory and elective programs.
- Oversees the management, maintenance, and functioning of the organization’s Learning Management System, benefit ting the entire Judicial Branch.
- Monitors trends in Judicial Branch education, continually assessing the impact of changes in law, practice, procedure, policies, and protocol on the training and education needs of Judicial Branch personnel; and developments in the design and delivery of training and education due to new and evolving technologies and systems; and workforce trends and preferences.
- Provides relevant data to Trial Court leadership and identifies and communicates operational and maintenance priorities for the formulation of the department annual budget and personnel requirements.
- Engages in ongoing performance measurement and management and continuous improvement.
