Role and Scope of PositionThis position is jointly responsible for providing safe, reliable and cost‑effective electric service to customers. It oversees the safe operation, restoration, construction and corrective maintenance of Eversource sub‑stations as well as the operations of the transmission and distribution communications systems. The position is also accountable for compliance with applicable NERC and Critical Infrastructure Protection standards and guidelines.
Essential Functions- Develops, plans, recommends, and implements plans, policies and programs that promote safe, reliable and efficient operations of all stations.
- Oversees the development, evaluation, and introduction of technology changes, ensuring improvements in systems, processes and procedures are implemented.
- Ensures transmission and distribution communication equipment is maintained within all stations.
- Establishes plans and goals to improve the cost‑effectiveness, timeliness and reliability of station operations.
- Ensures cost‑effective, high‑quality and timely delivery of maintenance and operational services to internal customers.
- Oversees the department’s financial resources by defining and developing capital, operations, maintenance and construction budgets, and establishes benchmark procedures.
- Researches, investigates and recommends potential new business opportunities in sub‑station operations, maintenance and construction.
- Manages, selects, coaches and develops staff in the area; implements programs to ensure employees possess required technical and behavioral skills.
Technical Knowledge / Skill:
- Must have thorough knowledge of sub‑station and transmission line design and planning, protection and control, managing capital and operating budgets and plans, and must work cross‑functionally.
- Must have demonstrated leadership in strategic planning.
- Must have demonstrated ability to influence and lead others.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business or related discipline.
- MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years of increasing experience managing groups engaged in station operation and communication technologies is required.
- Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Must be willing to travel between MA, CT and NH.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment that requires sitting, standing and climbing stairs.
- Must drive and travel to remote service centers.
Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. Employed staff may be called to assist during emergencies outside of their normal responsibilities, hours and location.
Compensation and BenefitsEversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Check out our careers site for an overview of benefits programs. Salary is commensurate with experience. The position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range is $255,000–$275,000.
