Global Merchandising Manager – Global Key Account (GKA) Wholesale Partners
Reports to the Global Director of Channel Merchandising. Leads strategic global merchandising for New Balance’s primary wholesale partners in the athletic specialty channel. Manages the global GKA plan(s) deployed by regional channel merchandising teams across NA, EMEA, and APAC. The role is based in Boston, MA, or Warrington, UK, with a hybrid schedule of three days on‑site and two days remote per week.
Responsibilities- Oversee a strategic GKA merchandising plan aligned with business objectives and brand strategy.
- Understand broader consumer behavior across lifestyle, fashion, and sport marketplaces and within the distribution channel.
- Lead and develop a team, providing clear direction, coaching, feedback, and support.
- Reconcile regional commercial input across both accounts and feed insights back to the global category merchandising team.
- Drive the GKA assortment strategy at each go‑to‑market milestone, ensuring priority categories and global models are executed in conjunction with lifecycle and long‑range planning.
- Develop assortments that achieve shape, share, and product mix targets defined in the long‑range plans while protecting key franchises through lifecycle management.
- Ensure disciplined lifecycle management and product segmentation to protect key models and franchises.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 12–15+ years of industry experience, with preference for direct work with wholesale partners.
- Deadline oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Resourceful problem solver with a DIY approach.
- Knowledgeable in channel segmentation, range architecture, product assortment planning, concept drivers, and product flow.
- Strong communicator, able to present and negotiate with key account teams and influence multiple regions, cultures, and senior leadership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills that influence alignment to strategic merchandising direction.
- Capacity to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Energetic, positive can‑do attitude, and proven leadership skills that align teams to common outcomes.
- Geographically close to key account headquarters – Manchester, UK or Boston, MA; willing to travel internationally for go‑to‑market events.
