Program Manager, Youth Programs
Mass General Brigham's youth programs are built upon the commitment of the system to foster a diverse workforce in the healthcare field and a strong belief that educational and employment opportunities are vital for community wellness. The youth programs work in partnership with local schools and serve students from 10th grade to college, to offer year-round internships, summer internships, after school programming, social emotional supports, enrichment and academic tutoring, and more.
Reporting to the Program Director of Youth Programs, the Program Manager is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of Mass General Brigham's Youth Programs. Through a shared leadership model, each Program Manager partners across all youth program work streams, including Academic Year Programs, Summer Jobs, Alumni Engagement, Career Navigation, and special initiatives-to ensure seamless operations, high-quality participant experiences, and the successful achievement of program goals.
Working collaboratively as a leadership team, the Program Manager shares responsibility for program operations, staff supervision, community partnerships, workforce development strategies, and student success. This role provides both strategic leadership and operational oversight, ensuring flexibility to meet changing program priorities while advancing equity, workforce development, and organizational goals.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Mass General Brigham Youth Programs portfolio.
- Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of youth programs.
- Oversee all aspects of program operations, including student recruitment, onboarding, placements, compliance, program delivery, workforce readiness activities, orientations, retreats, graduations, and other educational and engagement initiatives.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Program Specialists, Coordinators, temporary staff, interns, and other assigned personnel.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with students, families, mentors, hospital departments, schools, community organizations, workforce development partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Youth Programs leadership and Community Health colleagues to establish shared priorities, coordinate staffing resources, manage cross-functional initiatives, and ensure seamless program implementation across multiple work streams.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative data to establish performance metrics, monitor program outcomes, evaluate effectiveness, prepare reports and presentations, and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage program budgets, grants, contracts, and other funding resources while ensuring responsible fiscal stewardship, compliance with organizational policies, and sustainability of program operations.
- Represent Mass General Brigham Youth Programs internally and externally by participating in community meetings, advisory groups, recruitment events, conferences, and organizational committees.
- Provide leadership coverage across hospital campuses, community sites, and special initiatives as operational needs require.
- Lead special projects, pilot initiatives, organizational priorities, and new program development efforts as assigned by the Program Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission, strategic priorities, and ongoing success of the Mass General Brigham Youth Programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree related field of study required.
- 3 - 5 years' experience working in youth development programs required.
- 1 - 2 years of supervisory/management experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of youth development principles and trauma informed practice.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute projects effectively.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines and experiences.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
