International Tax Senior Manager responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, recommending alternate courses of action, and identifying compliant methods for international tax regulations. The role includes marketing, networking, and business development within the senior manager’s area of specialization. The manager is a key member of the Office/Region Tax Services leadership team and serves as a source of guidance on international tax matters.

Responsibilities- Tax Consulting
- Develop, recommend, and implement practical international tax consulting solutions.
- Ensure compliance with firm policy regarding Written Tax Advice (WTA).
- Resolve complex taxation issues using multiple tax specialties.
- Communicate complex technical matters to clients and appropriate audiences.
- Tax Specialization
- Develop in-depth understanding of international tax issues and opportunities.
- Act as industry expert and U.S. resource for selected foreign jurisdictions.
- Manage pricing and service delivery for assigned clients.
- Collaborate with the National Tax Office on drafting tax alerts.
- Marketing and Business Development
- Demonstrate thought leadership in specialized international tax areas.
- Develop and execute marketing plans with partners and business development managers.
- Build go‑to‑market strategies with Assurance Partners.
- Research
- Identify and conduct necessary research, outline issues and sources.
- Analyze research findings and produce detailed reports.
- Prepare WTA and coordinate with the National Tax Office.
- Tax Compliance
- Manage client engagements and review international tax aspects of U.S. tax reporting.
- Identify advanced issues and opportunities throughout engagements.
- Leverage compliance role to uncover additional tax issues.
- Tax Controversy
- Represent clients before U.S. tax authorities on contested international tax matters.
- ASC 740‑10
- Apply standards, firm policies, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Review international aspects of tax provisions and coordinate with non-U.S. colleagues.
- Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
- Supervise day‑to‑day workload of International Tax staff (Managers, Senior Associates, Associates, Interns).
- Review work product and provide technical guidance.
- Deliver performance feedback and complete evaluations.
- Mentor staff and promote professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting.
- J.D., L.L.M., MST/MBT preferred.
- Eight or more years in corporate tax, international taxation, or related professional services.
- Experience in international tax required.
- Experience supervising tax professionals on project or engagement basis.
- CPA, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent (or equivalent designation) required.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
- Experience with RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis, and/or Westlaw preferred.

- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and work independently or within a team.
- Experience managing a team of tax professionals.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and client personnel.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on engagements.
- Advanced knowledge of tax filings, forms, and calculations.
- Legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method.
National Range: $99,750 – $262,500
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 – $262,500
Washington DC Range: $99,750 – $262,500
