WBZ-TV/CBS Boston is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Director of Technology to lead the technical strategy and execution of our multi-platform content center. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring the operational excellence, innovation, and future-readiness of our broadcast and streaming infrastructure. Reporting directly to the President and General Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Division Senior Vice President of Engineering, the Director of Technology will play a critical role in shaping the technical vision of a modern television station and streaming operation in one of the nation’s most competitive media markets.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a forward-looking technology strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Lead all engineering and technical operations for broadcast and digital streaming platforms
- Oversee technical infrastructure supporting news production, content distribution, and multi-platform delivery
- Drive innovation across television and streaming workflows
- Ensure regulatory compliance, signal integrity, cybersecurity, and operational reliability
- Collaborate with station and division leadership on capital planning, vendor relationships, and technology budgets
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering specialist team
- Partner with Director of News Operations and Production to prioritize station projects
- Proven leadership experience in broadcast engineering and/or multi-platform media environments
- Deep expertise in television transmission, studio systems, newsroom workflows, and streaming technologies
- Strong strategic planning and project management skills
- Experience leading technical transformation initiatives
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and executive leadership
- Knowledge of FCC regulations and industry best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
