Job Description

The Fire Safety Manager reports to the Director, Environmental Health & Safetyand will be responsible for the planning, administration and management of both thecomprehensivefire and life safety programs for the University which includes all facilities locatedin the jurisdiction where Boston College owns property. Liaises with University stakeholders including Facilities Services, academic research community, andlocal fire department authorities to ensure compliance with fire safety protocols;

will perform risk assessments and evaluate existing and new fire safety programs and fire protection systems and make recommendations to management for adequacy and regulatory compliance.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $99,900 to $124,850; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in fire safety, engineering, protection and/or related science discipline. Training in National Incident Management System.
  • A minimum of 7 years of command experience in the fire service, emergency operations and/or emergency response management.
  • Strong working knowledge offederal, state and local fire safety regulations and codes.
  • Skilled in assessing and implementing fire safety compliance programs and working with agroup of faculty, staff, students and regulators.
  • Will be oncall 24 hours on a periodic basis to respond to emergencies on campus and must bewilling to work some weekends or evenings (football games, fire drills, special events).
