Electro-Mechanical Technician (Full Time)

Newton Scientific (NSI) is looking for a team player to fill the position of Electro-Mechanical Technician. The Electro-Mechanical Technician will perform a variety of electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, and testing tasks. The Position: We re looking for a Full-Time Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

* NSI offers competitive pay determined by qualifications and experience. There are also opportunities annually for raises and bonuses. These are based on performance and longevity.

* We offer stable work hours, Monday through Friday, with the opportunity to flex your start and end time around your commute if needed (as approved by your supervisor). We sometimes offer optional overtime on evenings or weekends, as required by work schedules.

Location:

Located in the Schrafft s City Center in Charlestown, MA - the building is conveniently located near major highways and the Orange Line and offers many additional amenities such as a Free Shuttle to various T Line Stations, a Cafeteria, a Coffee Bar, an on-site Fitness Center, bike storage area, and a large FREE parking lot.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Associates  or Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.

  • Required: Must be able to lift at least to 20 lbs.

  • Required: 3 or more years of electro-mechanical assembly and/or test experience. Related experience in fields other than electronics will also be considered.

  • Preferred: Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, function generators, etc.

  • Preferred: Experience with soldering. Ideally, SMT and through-hole soldering.

  • Preferred: Experience with use of adhesives, epoxy, RTV to encapsulate electronic assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize excellent electro-mechanical assembly skills to build, assemble, test, and verify electrical and/or mechanical units.

  • Experience with precision assembly, inspection.

  • Troubleshoot electronic assemblies.

  • Communicate well with team leads/ managers regarding questions, meeting production schedules, known inventory concerns, etc.

  • Able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, designs, and schematics to produce items to specifications.

  • Maintain accuracy while also working to meet production schedules. Must be detail oriented.

  • Maintain individual work area /equipment in a neat orderly manner according to standards including proper disposal of packaging waste, proper storage and use of equipment and parts, and management of documentation needed to perform duties.
