Warehouse Optimization Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Warehouse Optimization Engineer. The ideal candidate is responsible for architecting and driving large-scale warehouse optimization initiatives across the enterprise, setting strategic direction, and serving as a technical expert and influencer. The Lead Warehouse Optimization Engineer leverages advanced engineering principles, data science, and lean methodologies to deliver transformative improvements in operational efficiency, cost reduction, and customer experience.

This position partners with senior stakeholders to shape the future of warehouse operations, ensuring scalable, innovative solutions are implemented and sustained.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of enterprise-wide warehouse optimization strategies, including slotting, layout, automation, and process improvement
  • Conduct high-impact site assessments, benchmarking, and best practice sharing across the network
  • Lead the development and deployment of dashboards, reports, and decision-support tools relating to warehouse optimization (SQL, Power BI, etc.)
  • Drive adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling to enhance warehouse performance
  • Serve as the technical expert and advisor for warehouse optimization projects, providing guidance and mentorship to project teams and coaching junior analysts
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, OpCos, supply chain, operations, and IT to align optimization initiatives with business goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
  • 7 plus years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or distribution center analytics, with significant experience leading cross-functional projects
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field
  • Expert proficiency in data analytics, SQL, and business intelligence platforms
  • Advanced experience with slotting optimization tools (e.g., Auto Store, Optricity, Slot 3d)
  • Deep knowledge of WMS and ERP platforms, automation technologies, and warehouse robotics
  • Proven ability to design and interpret complex models (travel time, dwell time, hit frequency, etc.)
  • Track record of implementing Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies at scale
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models for slotting and inventory optimization
  • Ability to translate business strategy into actionable engineering solutions
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and influencing strategic decisions
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP Six Sigma Black Belt or higher WERC Certified Warehouse Logistics Professional (CWLP) Preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 30 percent or as project needs arise
  • Be Authorized to work for Sonepar in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future
