A Senior Field Engineer (SFE) will focus on commissioning complex systems. Commissioning involves the testing and fine‑tuning of all equipment in the system to ensure it operates as intended. The SFE will travel to the customer’s site and ensure the system is installed, set up, and operating as designed. The SFE should be able to solve issues as they arise and communicate with the team as needed.

This position will mentor other Field Engineers and provide remote online support to them.

The Territory covers New England:
Must live within the Territory.

What You’ll Do:
  • Commission systems in the field and optimize all equipment settings to ensure proper operation.
  • Work closely with the system programmer to ensure the control system functions without issues; often collaborate remotely to load new code and troubleshoot.
  • Lead a team on large projects when required.
  • Provide simple code and touch‑panel updates under the direction of the assigned programmer.
  • Stay current on technology, firmware updates, and common field issues.
  • Diagnose known and newly identified problems and formulate solutions.
  • Mentor and provide remote assistance to other Field Engineers.
Complexity:

The field aspect complicates commissioning a system. The SFE must possess a high level of knowledge across a wide variety of equipment and manufacturers, with deep understanding of audio, video, control and networking systems. The role requires coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders and providing training and support for other Field Engineers and the most complex systems and tasks, demanding exceptional people skills.

Decision

Making Authority:

While the SFE typically works alone after installation is substantially complete, they still coordinate with other team members for smooth project completion and effective communication. Project managers, engineers and others will provide guidance as needed.

Physical Working Environment Physical Demands

The employee may be exposed to construction site conditions on a regular basis. The employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and must comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. PPE is usually required. The employee typically spends at least 50% of their time on their feet, mobilising around the construction site, and may need to climb ladders, use stairs, and lift or move materials up to 40 pounds.

The individual is also required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls for installation projects. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision. When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office conditions and use office equipment such as computers and peripherals.
