Position: Design for Manufacturing Director

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Director to support the transition of products from development into scalable production. Working across engineering, quality, supply chain and manufacturing, this role focuses on product industrialisation, supplier engagement, manufacturing readiness and successful production launch within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage product transition from prototype to production.
  • Improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, product quality and production costs.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, tooling strategies and production documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations and supply chain teams throughout new product introduction.
  • Support supplier selection, manufacturing capability assessments and performance management.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, pilot production and manufacturing ramp-up activities.
  • Identify production issues, support root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor manufacturing readiness, project milestones and production launch activities.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in manufacturing engineering, new product introduction or production launch.
  • Strong knowledge of DFM, DFA, manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP or FMEA.
  • Experience scaling products into volume production.
Success in the Role

Success will be measured through effective manufacturing readiness, successful product launches, supplier performance and the implementation of scalable production processes that achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives.
