Job Summary:
The Bulk Packer is responsible for accurately portioning, packing, sealing, labeling, and preparing bulk food products and meals for distribution to City Fresh Foods customers and programs. This position works as part of the Production team to ensure meals and food products are packed according to production schedules, customer specifications, food safety requirements, and City Fresh Foods quality standards.
The Bulk Packer must work efficiently in a fast-paced food production environment while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, sanitation, and proper food handling practices.

Duties/Responsibilities- Portion and pack prepared food into designated bulk containers, pans, trays, bags, or other approved packaging.
- Package bulk order items and notify director when inventory is low.
- Follow proper handwashing, glove-use, personal hygiene, uniform, and hair-restraint requirements.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down packing stations before and after production.
- Assemble boxes, containers, labels, and other packaging materials needed for daily production.
- Follow production sheets, packing lists, menus, portion requirements, and customer specifications.
- Verify that the correct food items, quantities, portion sizes, and packaging materials are used for each order.
- Properly seal, cover, label, date, and identify completed food products.
- Check labels and packaging for accuracy before products are released for staging or distribution. Removes defective products or materials, placing them in specified areas for handling.
- Examines containers, products, and materials for quality control and ensures packing requirements are met.
- Seals containers or materials.
- Marks and labels containers, container tags, labels, or products.
- Enters packing, order, and product information in or on required forms, records, or other documents.
- Stacks cambros on pallets and move completed products to designated staging, refrigeration, holding, or distribution areas.
- Follow all City Fresh Foods food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and production policies and procedures.
- Follow applicable FDA, local health department, OSHA, and other food safety and workplace requirements.
- Perform other production, packing, cleaning, or related duties as assigned based on operational needs.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Previous food production, food service, commercial kitchen, manufacturing, assembly, or packing experience preferred.
- Experience working in a high-volume food production environment is a plus.
- Food safety training or certification is preferred; required training may be provided by City Fresh Foods.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Bilingual or Multilingual skills are preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read production sheets, product labels, quantities, dates, and basic food preparation information.
- Basic counting, weighing, measuring, and math skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while working at production speed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures consistently.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to adapt to changing production requirements and priorities.
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
- Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Regularly lift and carry food containers, boxes, pans, supplies, and other materials.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, individually or with assistance when appropriate.
- Push and pull loaded carts and racks.
- Work around commercial kitchen equipment and food production machinery.
- Safely perform repetitive packing and portioning activities throughout the shift.
The Bulk Packer works primarily in a commercial food production and packing environment. The employee may regularly work in or around:
- Hot and cold food production areas.
- Refrigerators, freezers, and temperature-controlled areas.
- Wet or slippery surfaces.
- Commercial kitchen and production equipment.
