About the Role
We're looking for a Multimedia Content Creator with strong video production skills to build out Algolia's video presence from the ground up. This is a video-first role, you'll spend most of your time creating, shooting, and editing content, with a smaller slice supporting day-to-day social publishing and community engagement. It's ideal for someone who came up through video production (school, internship, or hands-on project work) and wants to grow into social strategy alongside a Social Media Manager who'll mentor you on that side.
Reporting to the Social Media Manager within Corporate Communications, you'll own You Tube channel strategy and optimization, repurpose long-form Academy content into short, platform-native video, and build new content for Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, You Tube Shorts, Linked In, and emerging channels.
Key Responsibilities- Create, edit, and publish social-first video content, including short-form clips, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, product explainers, training videos, event recaps, and trend-based content.
- Support the planning and management of the social media calendar across priority platforms.
- Film and produce lightweight video content using smartphones, cameras, microphones, lighting, and basic production tools.
- Edit videos for multiple formats and platforms, including captions, motion graphics, thumbnails, hooks, transitions, music, and platform-specific aspect ratios.
- Audit and revitalize Algolia's You Tube channel — assess what's currently there, identify gaps and opportunities, and build a content plan to grow it.
- Write social copy that is clear, engaging, brand-appropriate, and tailored to each channel.
- Monitor social trends, platform updates, memes, creator formats, and competitor activity to identify relevant content opportunities.
- Engage with audiences by monitoring comments, messages, mentions, and community conversations.
- Track content performance and prepare basic reporting on metrics such as reach, engagement, views, watch time, follower growth, and top-performing posts.
- Repurpose long-form, educational content from the Algolia Academy team into short, promotional, platform-ready video and social content.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, design, product, training department (i.e., Academy team) and other internal teams to gather content and support campaigns.
- Maintain an organized library of video assets, templates, raw footage, graphics, and published content.
- Help ensure all content reflects the brand voice, visual identity, and messaging priorities with guidance from the Design team.
- Up to 20% travel.
- 1+ years of hands-on video production experience (school, internship, freelance, or professional) — this is the core requirement. Social media experience alone, without video production skill, is not a fit for this role.
- Based in or near New York or Boston, or otherwise able to work Eastern time zone hours. Boston/NYC strongly preferred for in-person video production and team collaboration.
- Strong video editing skills, especially for short-form social content.
- Experience with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Photoshop, or similar platforms.
- A good sense of humor, genuine curiosity, and a willingness to experiment and go against the norm.
- Comfortable navigating a first-of-its-kind role with no established playbook, tenacious about asking questions and building processes as you go.
- A good eye for pacing, storytelling, framing, sound, captions, and visual polish.
- Strong understanding of Tik Tok, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube Shorts, and other major social platforms.
