We are looking for a dynamic team player to join a small but impactful department, who is adept at contributing to the strategic vision and providing hands-on participation and impact.

Overview: The Associate Director of Marketing is a collaborative leader responsible for developing and executing mission-aligned marketing and audience engagement campaigns that increase museum attendance, deepen community connections, and expand the ICA’s reach. Reporting to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO), this role leads advertising, digital marketing, the ICA’s website and eNews, and integrated marketing initiatives that support exhibitions, public programs, membership, retail operations, ticket sales, earned revenue, and other institutional priorities.

The Associate Director of Marketing oversees marketing analytics, budgets, and external agency and vendor relationships to optimize campaign performance, inform decision-making, and deliver measurable results. The Associate Director of Marketing will have direct oversight and supervision of the Marketing Coordinator.

The Associate Director of Marketing contributes to a culture of collaboration, community, and respect while centering the ICA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEAIB) in all areas of work.

WORKING AT THE ICA:

  • All ICA employees are required toresidein Massachusetts and within commuting distance from our Seaport location as of the first day of work.
  • The ICA offers the flexibility of a hybrid work week, which averages three days a week onsite for employees who are eligible to work remotely (subject to change, and atmanagersdiscretion).

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute integrated, results-oriented marketing campaigns that further the museum’s goals of increasing engagement, attendance,revenue,membership, ICA Storeand ticket sales.
  • In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing department, shape and steward institutional messaging acrosschannels to ensure strategic alignment, coordinated timing, and consistent messaging.
  • Developadvertisingcampaignsfrom concept through execution, including media planning, creative development, and budget oversight across print, OOH, digital, onsite, and broadcast channels.
  • Partner with the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO) to develop, manage, and monitor marketing and advertising budgets, ensuring strategic resource allocation, fiscal responsibility, and optimized campaign performance.
  • Partner with the CCMO and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate website performance and functionality, assess and prioritize external agency recommendations, and guide strategic investments and user experience enhancements that support institutional goals.
  • Oversee and strategically leverage data from Google Analytics, Tessitura, Wordfly, and other digital analytics platforms to measure performance, translate metrics into actionable insights, and inform strategies that optimize marketing campaigns, user journeys, ticket sales funnels, membership acquisition, digital engagement, and audience growth.
  • Establish andmonitorkey performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks for marketing and digital initiatives, regularly communicating results, trends, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Serve as the institutional lead for ICAeNews, overseeing editorial quality, brand and style compliance, audience segmentation, list management, and email marketing best practices to deliver accurate, consistent, and high-impact communications that strengthen audience engagement and support institutional goals.
  • Lead audience research initiatives including ongoing visitor surveys, focus groups, and partnerships with external research consultants; synthesize and present findings to inform strategic decisions.
