Overview: The Marketing Coordinator supports the Institute of Contemporary Art’s Marketing and Communications team in planning, executing, and evaluating integrated marketing campaigns that promote exhibitions, public programs, membership, special events, retail, and other institutional initiatives. This role develops and coordinates engaging content for multiple platforms—including the website, email marketing, social media, and paid advertising—to strengthen audience engagement, grow visibility, and expand the museum’s reach.
Working collaboratively across departments and with external partners, the Marketing Coordinator helps ensure campaigns are creative, strategic, accessible, and aligned with the ICA’s brand, editorial standards, and institutional voice. With a strong understanding of visual culture, digital storytelling, and emerging marketing trends, this role contributes fresh ideas and data-informed strategies that enhance awareness of the ICA and deepen connections with diverse audiences.
The position also provides project coordination and administrative support for the Marketing and Communications department while helping to advance the museum’s overall marketing and communications goals.
The Marketing Coordinator contributes to a culture of collaboration, community, and respect while centering the ICA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEAIB) in all areas of work.
WORKING AT THE ICA:- All ICA employees are required toresidein Massachusetts and within commuting distance from our Seaport location as of the first day of work.
- The ICA offers the flexibility of a hybrid work week, which averages three days a week onsite for employees who are eligible to work remotely (subject to change, and atmanagersdiscretion).
- This position is included in a bargaining unit represented by UAW Local 2110.
- Support the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for exhibitions, public programs, membership, the ICA Store,special events, and other institutional initiatives across social media,eNews, the website, and other digital platforms.
- Draft, edit, and publish engaging, audience-focused content for the ICA website,eNews, social media, and other digital channels, ensuring consistency with the ICA’s brand, editorial standards, and institutional voice.
- Coordinate the production and distribution of ICAeNews, including building and formatting communications,maintaining the editorial calendar, gathering content, managing stakeholder approvals, supporting audience list management in Tessitura and Wordfly, and monitoring performance.
- Update andmaintaincontent on icaboston.org, ensuring information is accurate,timely, accessible, and aligned with institutional priorities while helping drive web traffic through integrated digital marketing efforts.
- Help manage day-to-day activity across ICA social media platforms by publishing content,monitoring audience engagement, responding to inquiries, and fostering a positive and engaging online community.
- Contribute to content strategy and campaign development by generating creative ideas,identifying digital trends, and producing compelling written, visual, and video content that strengthens audience engagement and supports institutional goals.
- Capture, edit, and publish digital content—including photography, graphics, and short-form video—for use across social media, the website,eNews, Bloomberg Connects, You Tube, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications colleagues to coordinate photography and video production, including scheduling shoots, managing vendors and logistics, organizing digital assets, andfacilitatingimage rights and permissions.
- Develop, schedule, and manage paid digital advertising campaigns and content calendars in collaboration with the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, Director of Communications, Marketing team, and external agency partners.
