The senior associate director of content strategy is a key leader within Advancement Communications and Marketing (ACM), responsible for shaping and delivering acohesive, audience-centered editorial strategy that advances Boston College’sfundraising and engagement priorities. Reporting to the director of advancement communications and marketing, this individual oversees a team of writers and editors and ensures that all content reflects the highest standards of quality,clarity, and brand equity.
A highly skilled writer andeditor, the senior associate director maintains a personal portfolio ofhigh‑impact assignments, ranging from donor proposals and institutional publications to digital storytelling and multimedia. They set and uphold editorial standards across the team, ensuring that every piece of content is polished, compelling, and aligned with BC’s institutional voice. This role also collaborates closely with colleagues across ACM, Development, Alumni Relations,and University Communications to source narratives and deliver cohesive,cross‑functional work.
PrimaryDuties:
- Lead editorial team:
Manage and develop a team of writers and editors, including project assignment, reviewing work, performance feedback, coaching growth, and ensuring adherence to deadlines as well as consistent quality and messaging across all content - Shape messaging frameworks:
Contribute to the creation of messaging frameworks for University Advancement priorities - Oversee content development:
Lead concepting and copy development for both broad engagement touchpoints and custom, high-impact materials including donor solicitations, publications, and multimedia assets - Drive strategic content planning:
Develop strategies to maximize existing communication platforms and publications, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and audience needs - Champion audience-centered work:
Ensure content is grounded in audience insight and segmentation to deliver relevant, engaging communications that build long-term trust - Apply institutional voice:
