SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing the Devine Recovery Center’s volunteer program and coordinating recovery-based recreational activities. Utilizing a Peer-to-Peer Support model, this role supports individuals in recovery from substance use through structured engagement, community outreach, and event planning. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between volunteers, staff, and community partners to strengthen recovery support, and promote positive member involvement.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee recreational activities and events at the Recovery Center, including managing the members’ softball and basketball teams and organizing outings to beaches, amusement parks, and other recovery-focused destinations.
- Lead all aspects of the volunteer program, including volunteer recruitment, orientation, scheduling, supervision, and retention.
- Manage and coordinate DRC volunteer roles by assigning tasks, creating schedules, and ensuring volunteers are actively contributing to daily center operations and activities.
- Collaborate with Outreach Coordinator to engage individuals from the recovery community in the volunteer program.
- Coordinate volunteer assignments based on individual availability, interest, and program needs.
- Work with staff and members to develop and implement social activities and special events that promote recovery and community connection.
- Work closely with the Program Director to maintain accurate and timely records, volunteer logs, and other required documentation.
- Participate in wellness and recovery-related workshops, trainings, and support groups.
- Collect, track, and submit data for evaluation and reporting purposes; assist with funder reports and other administrative needs.
- Upload and maintain required documentation in the CAPRSS portal on a monthly basis.
- Ensure accurate daily data entry of membership packets and surveys into EIM/ESM systems.
- Maintain spreadsheets to track membership, survey data, and volunteer participation.
- Coordinate closely with the Program Director on projects, planning, and program development.
- Attend monthly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
- Attend the monthly Community Meeting in collaboration with Outreach Coordinator. Organize, maintain, and communicate meeting notes.
- Maintain building and member safety by conducting schedule rounds.
- Monitor and review building cleanliness standards; perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks during volunteer shortages to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Oversee and manage the clothing donation closet, including organizing donations, maintaining inventory, scheduling volunteer support, and ensuring the space is clean, accessible, and responsive to member needs.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
- Attend and participate in monthly meetings with the Program Director to plan the following month’s calendar and discuss upcoming initiatives.
- Meet weekly with the Program Director to coordinate the assignment of calendar responsibilities, ensuring clear ownership and accountability for scheduled events and volunteer-led activities.
- Identify relevant topics and themes for each month’s calendar in alignment with the agency’s mission and seasonal or community needs.
- Ensure calendar is updated, distributed, and communicated to all relevant staff, volunteers, and stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Responsible for SOAP presentation every Tuesday with Outreach Coordinator.
- Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use and recovery support.
- Lived experience in recovery preferred, with a minimum of 1 year of sustained recovery strongly encouraged.
- Must possess a valid MA driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass MA CORI and Drug Testing requirements.
- Familiarity with the Greater Boston recovery community and local service networks.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with program planning, coordination, and volunteer engagement.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
- Desired intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with marketing and design tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to recovery-orientated values, community service, and empowerment through peer support.
SCHEDULE:
Onsite, Sunday (12pm-8pm) and Monday-Thursday (9am-5pm)
