Family and Violence Prevention Coordinator

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS)is a multi-service organization in the heart of the Maverick Landing housing development in East Boston. Our mission is to build an equitable community by uplifting and supporting families, promoting community health, and nurturing resident and youth leadership & creativity.

We do this by offering wrap around resident services, adult education classes such as ESOL and digital literacy, robust youth and family programming, weekly food distributions, and housing advocacy and support.

Our team is looking to hire a Family and Violence Prevention Coordinator
to lead the engagement and violence prevention strategy within the Maverick Landing development and surrounding East Boston community. This includes engagement with community youth and families, building social cohesion through community activities and events, and coordinating with case managers and other staff to address acute incidents of community violence. The family and violence prevention coordinator will report to the assistant executive director.

• Scheduling, marketing, and hosting events for children and families at least once per week
• Coordinate monthly community meetings to be held at MLCS on an ongoing basis
• Assist with outreach and tabling for MLCS programs, as well as community walks
• Manage volunteers, including teen and college age volunteers, to support violence prevention programming
• Deploy emergency response plan in the event of neighborhood violence, coordinating with mental health providers, city resources, and law enforcement.
• Attend and support other MLCS events to ensure local awareness, attendance, and involvement
• Work with the youth mentorship coordinator to identify youth needing additional support and assisting with success planning
• Work with artist-in-residence and ñ press team on art activities, messaging, and program design
• Manage data collection in the form of attendance lists, youth success plans, and other deliverables as needed
• Attend weekly team huddles and report updates on youth programming

• Prior youth work experience in an inner-city environment
• Community-driven and enthusiastic about working with youth and relationship-building
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to learn and grow within the team
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices/strategies
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus

This isapart-time,permanent
27-hour/week position.
