The Program Director is a member of the Club’s leadership team and provides leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality youth development programs. This role supports the implementation of BGCB objectives, standards, policies, and procedures that promote positive outcomes for members.
The Program Director supervises assigned program leaders and staff and supports safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments that enable members to grow, develop, and achieve academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Development, Delivery, and Youth Outcomes
- Provide leadership and accountability for high-quality program delivery, including core programs, new initiatives, licensed and summer programs, junior staff development, and program outcome measurement.
- Ensure Club program objectives, activities, and outcomes align with organizational goals, program standards, and mission.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of developmentally appropriate programming based on member needs, interests, and program outcomes.
Staff Supervision, Coaching, and Development
- Directly supervise assigned department directors and program leaders and provide oversight and support to program staff.
- Partner with the Executive Director and People & Culture in the recruitment and selection of assigned program staff.
- Coach and develop assigned program leaders and staff to support strong program delivery, youth development practices, and professional growth.
- Participate in individual and group supervision sessions and professional development opportunities as approved, provided, or directed.
- Promote an inclusive program environment that values the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of staff, volunteers, members, and families.
Member Experience, Behavior Management, and Program Safety
- Directly supervise assigned department directors and program leaders and provide oversight and support to program staff.

Program Partnerships, Family, and Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with external resources and community partners that support program goals and enhance opportunities for members, as appropriate.
- Cultivate parent and community engagement in support of Club programs and participate in Club events and fundraising activities as appropriate.
- Participate in organization-wide and Boys & Girls Clubs of America professional learning, training, and shared-learning opportunities as appropriate.
Program Evaluation, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to coordinate program schedules, space, staffing, safety, and other operational needs that support effective program delivery.
- Lead and participate in program evaluation and quality-improvement efforts, including member surveys, program quality assessments, and outcome measurement activities, and use findings to strengthen program delivery.
- Other related duties as specified by the Executive Director.
- Healthy Behavior Modeling – Teaching youth/teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCB priority. As a result, all staff is expected to model healthy behavior while collaborating with our members.
