This is a full time 40 hour a week position. Monday - Friday with occasional weekend events required, options for alternative set schedule available.
THE POSITION:The MSPCA-Angell is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced community organizer, non-profit program development and/or animal welfare applicant to join our organization as a Community Outreach Manager at our Boston Adoption Center. The primary responsibilities of the Community Outreach Manager is to extend the reach of the MSPCA Adoption Center services and resources to historically excluded focus areas. The Manager will work to provide access to affordable care and services, such as veterinary care, spay/neuter and vaccine services, and training/behavior assistance. The Outreach Manager will develop and integrate new programs into the Boston Adoption Center to expand the depth and reach of the MSPCA’s programs.
Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Working with the Director of Community Outreach to develop, establish and implement directives for community initiatives.
- Leading and collaborating with staff and volunteers on how to conduct community outreach and engage focus communities for long term, sustainable positive change.
- Build relationships within the community with other animal organizations, social service organizations, community groups and community leaders.
- Work with the Angell and Adoption Center Medical Teams in Boston to meet surgical and medical needs of animals in focus areas efficiently.
- Work with the MSPCA Law Enforcement Department on calls in communities that can be addressed through a Community Outreach approach of providing resources to owners in need.
- Plan, organize and implement free community vaccine and other events in identified communities.
- Serve as spokesperson for Community Outreach. Manage and coordinate media appearance related to Community Outreach.
The salary range for the position is $60,000 - $68,000 depending on experience.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:We are looking for applicants with a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of animal handling experience, at least one year in a supervisory capacity, and at least one year of experience in customer service, social work, and/or non-profit areas. This position may also require occasional weekend or weeknight hours for special events. A valid driver's licence is required.
