Our client, a Boston-based university, needs a Temporary Manager of Student Philanthropy.

This is a full-time (37.5 - 40 hrs. a week), temporary position, expected to last for 3-4 months, and may be hybrid with 3 days on-site in Boston and 2 days working remotely.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Programs, the Temporary Manager of Student Philanthropy oversees a culture of giving among the student body led by the university's flagship giving program, the Senior Class Gift. The Temporary Manger will be responsible for recruiting student volunteers, planning and executing fundraising campaigns, leadership of the student philanthropy committee, stewardship of student donors, and for administrative tasks associated with the program.

In addition, the Temporary Manager will work with the Associate Director and team to develop new giving programs that expand student philanthropy throughout all class years.

Each year, more than 4,000 members of the student body make gifts to the university, representing each of the 17 schools and colleges. Student donors may choose to support whatever means the most to them at the university, including their school/college, club, sports team, or department. Many of these gifts come in through the philanthropy cord appeal, a signature class gift campaign.

Crowdfunding among student orgs is a growing area for student philanthropy and an area the student philanthropy manager will assist the Associate Director with for student groups and student giving. The student philanthropy program is guided by a committee of dedicated student volunteers led by two co-chairs.

Essential Functions
  • Directly oversee the student philanthropy program with the objective of increasing annual philanthropic participation from graduating students. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, volunteer committee management, planning and execution of philanthropy campaigns, and marketing communications to current students.
  • Coordinate programs, educational events, and marketing efforts to teach all undergraduate students about the impact of private support at the University, strengthen the culture of philanthropy on campus, and increase giving by current students.
  • Lead strategies that position the school's Annual Giving as a resource for student fundraising. Build relationships with student leaders and groups including, but not limited to, student government, clubs and organizations, club sports, and varsity athletic teams. Identify opportunities for high-ceiling crowdfunding projects and recruit student participants for Giving Day.
  • Work collaboratively with the associate director of digital to train, onboard and manage crowdfunding for student organizations through multiple crowdfunding cycles and giving day, giving Tuesday, and terriers together.
  • Recruit, train and supervise the student philanthropy staff and volunteers as needed.
Qualifications:
  • An enthusiasm for relationship-building and networking
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills
  • An ability to multitask and operate efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines
  • Must be willing and able to adjust schedule to work in-person committee meetings in the evening.
