- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal gifts-level donors
- Manage a personal portfolio of principal gifts prospects and donors
- Meet annually established fundraising and performance metrics
- Conduct donor meetings and prospect qualification
- Solicit and close outright, life income, bequest and asset gifts
- Formulate, document and execute prospect and donor moves management strategies
- Develop and produce compelling donor proposals
- Document work in Blackbaud CRM
- Collaborate with leadership, faculty, researchers, administrators and gift officers
- Develop cross-disciplinary transformational funding opportunities aligned with hospital priorities
- Maintain relationships with Boards, advisory board members, presidents, senior vice presidents and volunteer leaders
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement team
- Foster information sharing, learning, collaboration and best-practice development
- Participate in staff recruitment as needed
- Travel domestically and internationally as necessary
- Attend departmental meetings and complete assigned follow-up tasks
- Contribute to positive office morale and perform other office-wide duties as needed
- 10+ years of experience working directly with donors and volunteers
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in fundraising and academic medicine is ideal
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Active listening skills and ability to influence others
- Experience managing and engaging with leadership volunteers
- Ability to motivate, engage and work collaboratively with diverse audiences
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects effectively
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Strong work ethic
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Demonstrated track record of closing seven- and eight-figure gifts
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines
- Command of Microsoft Office tools and Constituent Relationship Management databases
- Competency using videoconferencing platforms;
