• The Post Anesthesia Care Units at MGH are comprised of 7 individual critical care areas dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients preceding and immediately following surgery and/or procedures requiring anesthesia.

• The unit operates 24 hours per day with Anesthesia and Nurse Practitioner medical coverage.

• this is a full-time 36 hours per week position; comprised of 12 hour shifts inclusive of a day/night rotation. There are some weekend and holiday requirements as well.

Qualifications  
• ASN or BSN required, BSN strongly preferred   
• Massachusetts RN license  
• Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience.

• Previous experience in a critical care environment (ED, ICU, PACU) is strongly preferred  
• We cannot consider new graduates at this time.
** Job Summary
** Summary  Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.
Essential Functions  
-Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
-Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.  
-Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
-Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
-Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
-Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
