OverviewThe mission of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University is to promote healthy aging through nutrition science, empowering people to enjoy long, active, and independent lives. HNRCA investigators conduct advanced studies on nutrition and aging, determining nutrient and physical activity requirements and how they prevent chronic degenerative conditions associated with aging.
What You’ll DoThis grant‑funded position is not eligible for severance pay.
Essential Functions- Serve as the dedicated clinical nurse for the NIH‑funded BRIO study.
- Perform protocol‑driven clinical procedures (IV insertion, maintenance, timed blood collection).
- Assess participant eligibility and health history for multiple studies.
- Obtain informed consent and manage all regulatory documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research team on screening, enrollment, treatment and follow‑up.
- Monitor health status, document and report medical issues, abnormal lab values, and adverse events.
- Administer investigational substances according to protocol and regulatory requirements.
- Collect and document participant health and research data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct nursing care in a competent and compassionate manner.
- Initiate medical emergency system as needed and maintain CPR, AED, and Human Protection Certification.
- Coordinate safe and accurate collection of protocol‑specific clinical data in the MRU and offsite locations.
- Implement quality assurance measures, develop and revise data‑collection procedures, and secure equipment and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with IRB and FDA regulations, CITI, GCP, and HNRCA safety procedures.
- Support evening, weekend, and overnight coverage when required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active Massachusetts RN license in good standing.
- IV and phlebotomy skills.
- Clinical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Completion of Human Research Participant Protection training within 2 weeks of start date.
- CPR and AED certification within 2 weeks of start date.
- Effective communication, organizational skills, and good judgment.
- Experience in clinical research and working with research participants.
- Experience working within IRB guidance and policies.
- Experience with REDCap or other research data collection databases.
- On‑site position.
- Rotating shifts with ability to extend shifts and periodic weekend shifts.
Minimum $72,500.00 – Midpoint $90,700.00 – Maximum $. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
