Boston Medical Center’s Adult Emergency Department is a level one trauma and comprehensive stroke center located in Boston’s South End. It provides a collaborative, innovative environment for nurses to deliver evidence‑based care to patients, families, and the community.
Position SummaryRegistered Nurse (RN) – Adult ED. 36‑hour schedule (day/night rotation, every third weekend, every other holiday). An RN in this unit plays an integral role in delivering exceptional, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced environment.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care in the Adult ED, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate with health‑care team members, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter/interpret computerized data.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist the leadership team as needed in quality‑improvement projects.
- Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Room RN experience.
- TNCC required or obtained prior to start date.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Nursing degree:
Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred). Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire. - Relevant clinical experience and specialty certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
$38.05–$75.33 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
