Job Summary

The MICU is an 18 bed adult critical care unit located at Blake
7. Nurses on the MICU care for a variety of complex respiratory and medical patients. Notable diagnoses include but not limited to sepsis, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, heme-oncology, cardiac, neurology, and infectious diseases such as H1N1(2005), suspect Ebola virus (2014) and the novel Corona Virus (2020). Qualifications
  • BSN is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of med/surg experience, ICU experience preferred.
  • Must be devoted to working as part of a patient care service team; strong patient care, staff development and a diverse workforce are paramount.
  • Current licensure in Massachusetts as an RN is required.
  • ACLS and CCRN certifications preferred.
Summary

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Education, Licenses and Experience
  • Education:

    Bachelor s Degree Nursing preferred
  • Experience:

    Clinical nursing experience minimum 3 years required
  • Licenses and Credentials:
    Registered Nurse RN - MA License
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

    Familiarity with practical nursing, care for age groups, confidentiality, medical terminology, communication skills, and triage ability.
