Position: Registered Nurse, Medical Intensive Care Unit B, 36 Hours (Nights / Rotating Weekend)

Position

Registered Nurse – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) – 36 hours, nights/rotating weekend.

About the Unit

Boston Medical Center has two MICUs: MICU A with 17 beds and MICU B with 10 beds. The units care for the most acute medical patients, including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
  • Communicate with various health‑care team members, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
Requirements
  • Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, or the ability to obtain one.
  • 1+ year of RN experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for certain units.
  • Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language a plus.
