Position Overview
Registered Nurse – Menino Operating Room (Inpatient Surgery)
Schedule:
36 hours, Days/Evenings, Every 3rd Weekend, Call Required
Location:
Menino Operating Room, Boston Medical Center
- Adhere to Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations.
- Provide professional performance and direct patient care across outpatient and inpatient surgical services.
- Conduct nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families.
- Accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the department’s model of care.
- Follow established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice.
- Delegate appropriate patient care activities to team members.
- Manage stress related to critical patient care, changing organizational climate, and personnel issues.
- Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years.
- License to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Current or prior operating room experience preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, including accessing, entering, and interpreting computerized data.
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Multilingual skills (beyond English) preferred.
- Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects.
Compensation Range: $38.05 – $75.33
