Nurse Practitioner​/Physician Assistant, Center Cancer and Aging

In collaboration with the Center’s Director of Geriatrics, the Oncology NP/PA manages care within the Center for Cancer and Aging (CCA) at Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute. The role primarily involves outpatient care with possible inpatient responsibilities, addressing acute and chronic problems associated with cancer, cancer treatment, and age‑related co‑morbid conditions.

The NP/PA provides anticipatory guidance, appropriate referrals, patient and family education, and psychological and emotional support. The NP/PA has prescriptive authority, including Schedule II‑V controlled substances in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and coordinates care with oncologists and other advanced practice providers across Dana‑Farber’s Disease Centers. The role requires effective communication within an interdisciplinary team, critical thinking, understanding of research principles, and leadership that improves quality of care and advances nursing/medical practice throughout the community.

• Authorization to practice in an expanded role as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners.
• Minimum of 24 contact hours in pharmacotherapeutics beyond generic education.
• Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Three years of oncology nursing experience or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
• Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Geriatrics, or Geriatric oncology experience preferred.
• In possession of Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Federal DEA numbers.
• Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred – OCN, AOCN, CPON, BMTCN, CPHON.

• PA Requirements
• Master’s Degree and successful completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program.
• Must be NCCPA Certified and licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.
• Must maintain current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses, and complete 100 hours of CME within each 2‑year period of employment.
• Certified gerontology experience preferred (ACNPC‑AG, GS‑C, AGPCNP‑BC, American Geriatrics Society PA training).
• Experience levels:
  • PA I – No professional experience required.
  • PA II – 2 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience.
  • PA III – 5 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The estimated salary range for Physician Assistants is $126 K – $283 K based on years of relevant experience.
