Position:
Nurse Practitioner (MS) – 36 hours/week, rotating shift
Department:
Oncology Infusion Center (Adult Oncology & Medical Infusion)
- Serve as the infusion first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies within the infusion department.
- Collaborate closely with oncology primary teams, longitudinal oncology and medical teams, and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide consultative support to nurses and providers to maintain and improve access to infusion services.
- Write, modify, and addend orders in accordance with current guidelines.
- Maintain and practice in conformity with practitioner guidelines, state regulations, and hospital policies.
- Participate in appropriate intra‑ and inter‑departmental committees.
- Collaborate with unit staff, providers, Professional Development Managers, APP Leader, Nurse Director, and other healthcare professionals to meet educational needs.
- Monitor patient outcomes and adhere to defined standards of patient care.
- Facilitate patient movement through the system and promote efficient resource utilization through interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Support educational initiatives to advance knowledge and promote evidence‑based practice.
- Evaluate own practice and program effectiveness, and pursue professional growth, including maintenance of required credentials.
- Education:
Master’s, DNP, or PhD in Nursing required. Completion of a Master’s or post‑Master’s NP program accredited by CCNE or NLNAC required. - Certification:
Current Acute Care or Adult/Geriatric or Family Nurse Practitioner certification by an accredited APRN certifying body required. - Licensure:
Valid prescriptive authority from MA DPH and Federal DEA, and current APRN license to practice in Massachusetts required. - Experience:
At least three years recent clinical Nurse Practitioner experience in oncology required; experience as a responding clinician/APRN to acute adverse reactions required; prior nursing experience in oncology infusion or medical infusion preferred.
- Expert clinical judgment for independent practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with patients, families, staff, and community health workers.
- Ability to work under frequent stress in a busy clinical setting and adapt to changing organizational climate.
- Self‑directed initiative and problem‑solving abilities.
- Conflict resolution skills.
Practice conforms to generally accepted standards of care promulgated by the American Nurses Association and other relevant professional organizations. Patient care management is based on current evidence and sound clinical judgment. Reference resources include Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, Physician’s Desk Reference, Barker, Principles of Ambulatory Medicine.
