Position: Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical - M6E, 36 Hours (Nights, Every Other Weekend/Holiday)

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical, M6E. 36‑hour nights, evenings, with on‑call weekend/holiday coverage.

About the Unit

6 East is a 36‑bed medical‑surgical unit that serves a wide range of general medical diagnoses and conditions. Candidates should demonstrate cultural competence and professional integrity while enjoying the variety of clinical experiences that medical‑surgical nursing offers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
  • Communicate with health‑care team members, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records and enter and interpret computerized data.
  • Follow BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
  • Assist the leadership team in quality‑improvement projects as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ year RN experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required in certain units.
  • Nursing degree:
    Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain a BSN within four years of employment.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.
