ICU Nurse, RN Nurse
BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER (BMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Step‑Down unit. The position will work 36 hours per week, with a mix of days and nights, and is located in the Critical Care/3W Intermediate Care Unit.
Position SummaryAs an RN on the Critical Care unit, you will deliver patient‑centered care for intermediate‑level surgical patients, including trauma, vascular, neurosurgery, transplant, and cardiothoracic cases. You will work within a supportive nursing organization, contributing to high‑quality care and professional growth.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate effectively with health‑care team members, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter computerized data.
- Interpret patient data and follow BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
- Assist the leadership team with quality improvement projects as needed.
- Active or pending Massachusetts RN license, or the ability to obtain one.
- 1+ year RN experience preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units. - Nursing degree:
Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years. - Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty; certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
