Position: Registered Nurse, MICU B, 36 Hours (Days/Nights / Rotating Weekends)

Position Details

    Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location:

    Medical Intensive Care Unit B (MICU‑B)
  • Schedule:

    36‑hour shifts (Days/Nights with rotating weekends)
Department

BMC houses two medical intensive care units: MICU‑A (17 beds) and MICU‑B (10 beds). Patients in these units include those with multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, education).
  • Communicate with health‑care team members, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records and enter/interpret computerized data.
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
  • Assist leadership in quality‑improvement projects as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, or ability to obtain one.
  • 1+ year RN experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for certain units.
  • Diploma, ASN, or BSN nursing degree (BSN preferred; ability to obtain BSN within 4 years).
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.

Compensation

Estimated range: $38.05 – $75.33 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and licensure.
