Position SummaryThe Pulmonary Associates Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant is a member of a pod that provides care to a panel of outpatients. The pod includes four to six physicians and one NP/PA.
In collaboration with the physician team, the incumbent diagnoses, prescribes treatments, and follows up with patients. The NP/PA functions as an independent provider delivering direct care and as clinical support for indirect care.

- Significant experience in nursing or as a PA required; prior experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Pulmonary related experience as an NP/PA or RN.
- Licensed provider with Master’s Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant degree.
- Current licensure in Massachusetts as APRN or Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant experience.
- Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
