Job Summary
Schedule:
24 hours Rotation—Day/Evening. To meet the needs of the department every other weekend and holiday rotation. In the ED, you will provide immediate acute care: triage, assess, treat, and document care. The ED has 29 beds with X‑rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds available 24/7, and the hospital is a Primary Stroke Center. The Registered Nurse is a Massachusetts‑licensed professional responsible for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients, demonstrating initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs.
The nurse assumes full responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and reports directly to a nurse manager or supervisor. The staff nurse also applies the Patient and Family Centered Care Model.
- BSN required
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers required
- Must obtain ACLS prior to the end of orientation; may not practice independently without ACLS
- PALS preferred
- Emergency Department experience strongly preferred
- 2 years of telemetry experience preferred
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients
- Observational skills and ability to set priorities
- Adherence to all I.C.A.R.E. standards
