Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) Immersion Program within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. This unique, structured program is designed for early-career advanced practice providers who are passionate about caring for children with complex hematologic and oncologic conditions and those undergoing stem cell transplant. As a member of a nationally recognized, mission‑driven pediatric institution, you will practice in a setting dedicated to patient care, quality, safety, and innovation, helping to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and their families.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will be fully integrated into a multidisciplinary care team that includes pediatric hematologist/oncologists, transplant specialists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other allied health professionals. The immersion program combines intensive clinical mentoring with formal didactic education and simulation‑based learning to build your expertise in caring for children with leukemias, solid tumors, benign hematologic disorders, and transplant‑related conditions. Under the guidance of experienced preceptors, you will conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate differential diagnoses, and develop evidence‑based management plans tailored to each child’s needs.
You will gain hands‑on experience in managing chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens, monitoring for treatment‑related toxicities, caring for immunocompromised patients, and supporting children before, during, and after stem cell transplant. Working in state‑of‑the‑art inpatient and outpatient settings, you will help coordinate care across the continuum—from initial diagnosis and active treatment to survivorship or palliative care—ensuring seamless communication among team members and with families.

The Nurse Practitioner/PA will play a key role in family‑centered care, providing clear, compassionate education and counseling about diagnoses, procedures, medications, side effects, and home care. You will partner closely with families, recognizing their central role in the child’s health journey, and help them navigate complex medical information and treatment choices.
Guided by our institutional commitment to safety and quality, you will follow established protocols for chemotherapy safety, central line care, infection prevention, transfusion practices, and emergency response, while contributing to ongoing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. We invite you to consider advancing your career at Boston Children’s Hospital if you are a compassionate, detail‑oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a strong interest in pediatric hematology/oncology and stem cell transplant, and you are eager to learn within a supportive, team‑based culture.
