Boston Medical Center (BMC) is a Magnet‑recognized organization seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pediatric Emergency Department.
Location: Pediatric Emergency Department
Schedule: 36 hours per week (Nights / Every Third Holiday / Weekend)
About the Pediatric Emergency Department at BMCOur family‑centered 14‑bed Pediatric Emergency Department is one of the largest dedicated PEDs in Boston, staffed by certified pediatric trauma nurses. The multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to children of all ages while fostering an inclusive work environment.
Position SummaryAs an RN in the Emergency Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional patient‑centered care and supporting the nursing organization’s mission.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care in the Adult Emergency Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families.
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter computerized data.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
- Licensed to practice registered nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- 1+ year RN experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units. - Nursing degree:
Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years. - Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty; certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
