Position Function
The Nursing Assistant performs basic patient care activities as delegated by the registered Nurse, assisting nursing staff in providing quality patient care.
Job RelationshipsSupervised or reports to the Patient Care Director or designee and the Registered Nurse.
AuthorityAuthorized to give basic patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and to perform other assigned tasks.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Provide superior customer service to patients following Service Excellence Standards.
- Assist patients with bed transfers, orientation to call light and side rails, and use of cough pillows.
- Assist in collecting medical data and vital signs.
- Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes: prepare unit, transfer patient to bed, assemble personal items, accompany patients as directed.
- Assist with activities of daily living: partial bed baths, shower/bath assistance, and water pitcher service.
- Record intake and output, document vital signs, and manage specimens.
- Dispose of trash and linens; float to other units within competence as needed.
- Comply with infectious disease policies: use protective measures, separate and dispose of infectious materials appropriately.

Perform related duties as required.
Report immediately to the Patient Care Director, supervisor, or Registered Nurse regarding deviations, unusual occurrences, changes in patient condition, incidents, or breaches in quality care.
AccountabilityHold responsibility for patient care delivered, maintaining confidentiality of hospital and patient information, and abiding by all relevant policies, including Infection Control.
QualificationsMinimum Education: High School diploma or equivalency.
Minimum Experience: Prior Nursing Assistant experience or completion of one clinical rotation for nursing students.
Minimum
Skills:
Verbal and written communication in English, basic math computations for treatment protocols, and ability to lift, transfer, and move patients.
Certification/Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required; BLS required.
Compensation$17.88 – $26.57 per hour (range based on qualifications).
