Department OverviewUnit 6 West is a 36‑bed Medical/Surgical unit caring for geriatrics, cardiology, and general medical patients. The unit manages patients on pulmonary hypertension medications Flolan and Remodulin and participates in the Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders (NICHE) program, which provides specialized geriatric care.
Position SummaryAs a Registered Nurse on the Medical/Surgical unit, you will deliver patient‑centered care, support your colleagues, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care, including assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
- Communicate with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update, manage, and document patient records.
- Enter and interpret computerized patient data.
- Follow BMC nursing policy and guidelines.
- Assist leadership in quality improvement projects as needed.
- Registered Nurse licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- 1+ year of RN experience preferred.
- BLS certification; ACLS certification required for certain units.
- Nursing degree:
Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred). - Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years.
- Relevant clinical experience; specialty certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet work demands.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Proficiency in another language is a plus.
