Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Boston, MA | Spend Your Shift Caring for Pediatric Patients in Inpatient Pain Service

- End Date: 11/03/2026 (with potential extension)
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts/week, primarily weekends (7a-7:30p or 7p-7:30a), night shifts highest need
- Hours/week: 36-40
- Employment Type: Contract
- License/Certs: MA State License, PALS Certification, DEA
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in pediatric acute care, pain management
- Hourly Rate: $159.46/hour

- Licensure, certification, travel and other reimbursements when applicable
- Provide inpatient pain management care for pediatric patients following surgery (cancer pain, sickle cell crises, etc.)
- Manage patients on epidurals and PCA therapies
- Support critically ill or sedated patients, with assessment and intervention
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including attending MDs and charge APRNs
- Document thoroughly in EPIC EMR system
- Maintain high standards of professional assessment and communication
- Support patient care during weekend and night shifts, primarily working with pediatric populations in the inpatient pain service
- Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (Peds NP or Peds Acute Care NP) with appropriate experience
- Massachusetts state licensure
- PALS Certification
- Minimum 2 years pediatric acute care experience, pain experience preferred
- Excellent assessment skills, empathetic communication, and ability to recognize when to escalate care
- DEA registration
- Vaccinations: MMR, Varicella, COVID-19, and Flu (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
This assignment involves providing inpatient pain management services in a busy hospital setting. You will care for pediatric patients post-surgery, including those with critical illness or on sedation, within a dedicated anesthesia and pain division. The facility supports a collaborative environment, offering excellent support staff and resources to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
