Nursing Administrator
The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a professional nurse to provide administrative direction and leadership to nursing staff. This role requires clinical and management expertise and the ability to coordinate inter and intradepartmental activities. Rotating - every other weekend.
Principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting with directing the operations of the Nursing Department on the off-shift.
- Collaborating with the off-shift nursing resources to ensure quality patient care.
- Working collaboratively with other departments to monitor overall quality standards of the off-shift.
- Establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with interdepartmental personnel, professional staff, and the community.
- Assisting with the development of financial proposals to support programs identified for the off-shift.
- Participating in the development of personnel policies for BWH.
- Contributing to and encouraging educational and professional development of staff nurses.
- Demonstrating awareness of contemporary nursing research and working with nursing staff to develop skill in the interpretation, application, and utilization of research findings to the clinical setting.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, BSN and Master's Degree in Nursing or related field required.
- Current licensure in Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Five years of clinical nursing experience required.
- Previous Nursing Leadership experience preferred.
- Past Nursing Administration/supervision experience preferred.
Skills and abilities

- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients and families, nursing staff, and other disciplines.
- Ability to manage diverse activities associated with operating the Nursing Department.
- Solid clinical skills to provide direction, information, and explanation to all levels of hospital management and staff.
- Communication skills adequate to provide necessary direction, information, and explanation to all levels of hospital management and staff.
Working conditions:
- The environment may be stressful and constantly changing.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, sealed radiation, and variances in temperature control and ventilation.
