Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a Float Pool position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring an active MA RN license and 3+ years of experience.

Details
  • Float pool position supporting 15 medical surgical units in a 600-bed facility
  • Specialties include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant liver/kidney/vascular
  • Inpatient patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, with a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts across a 4-week cycle
  • Rotates between day, evening, and night shifts, with days between rotations when possible
  • Every other weekend and major winter holiday coverage required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Unit assignment may be given as little as 2 hours before shift start, with assignments typically lasting 2-3 weeks
  • Set schedules cannot be guaranteed, though RTO is honored
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Performs unit-specific procedures including 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
  • RNs administer nebulizers while RTs manage ventilators
Requirements
  • Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required
  • Minimum 3 years of related RN work experience required
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience and specialty area expertise preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate web-based applications required
Additional Information
  • Weekly orientation occurs every Monday, barring holidays
  • Any color scrubs permitted
  • Pass/fail Tele/ECG and Medication testing required for certain campuses
  • Required vaccinations include COVID vaccine plus booster and flu vaccine, with medical exemptions allowed
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must have a 6+ month break before returning
  • RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and may not exceed 4 days, with no blocked scheduling or specific recurring days off approved
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this role due to the prior travel experience requirement
