Overview
At Boston Medical Center (BMC), a Magnet recognized organization, we are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Stepdown (Critical Care/3W Intermediate Care Unit). This 36 hour position is a permanent night/rotating-weekend schedule on a 38-bed unit that cares for intermediate level surgical patients, including trauma, vascular, neurosurgery, transplant, and cardiothoracic cases.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
- Communicate with health-care team members, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter computerized data.
- Follow BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
- Assist leadership in quality improvement projects as needed.
- Active Massachusetts RN license, or ability to obtain one.
- 1+ year of RN experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (ACLS required for certain units).
- Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
- Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
