Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Salary: $125,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience
The Opportunity
A leading clinical research organization is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Boston-based research team. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative psychiatric and neurological clinical trials while contributing directly to the development of new treatments.
The role combines clinical rating and patient assessment with trial-related medical responsibilities
, working under the supervision of the study Principal Investigator (PI) and/or Sub-Investigator (Sub-I).
Candidates with experience in psychiatry, neurology, Alzheimer’s disease, or clinical research are strongly encouraged to apply. Previous clinical research experience is beneficial but not required.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct structured clinical interviews, diagnostic assessments, neuropsychological assessments, and standardized rating scales for psychiatry and neurology trials.
- Assess symptoms and clinical change across indications such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, substance use disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease
. - Perform protocol-required physical and neurological examinations under PI/Sub-I supervision.
- Review laboratory results and ECGs and elevate clinically significant findings.
- Assess and document adverse events (AEs) and support relatedness evaluations.
- Review and document concomitant medications for eligibility and protocol compliance.
- Collaborate closely with investigators and the multidisciplinary research team to support participant safety, data quality, and successful study execution.
- Maintain compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Active, unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Board certification such as PMHNP-BC/ANCC or NCCPA preferred.
- Clinical experience in psychiatry, neurology, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Comfortable performing physical and neurological examinations and reviewing laboratory and ECG results.
- Experience with structured clinical interviews, psychiatric rating scales, or neuropsychological assessments is a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Boston, Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
, with occasional evening availability.
